Same-day dental implants

Same-day dental implants are a dental treatment that allows a missing tooth to be replaced on the same day as extraction for suitable patients.

Same day dental implants can replace missing teeth in just one visit.

The procedure involves removing the damaged or failing tooth, placing a dental implant into the jawbone immediately, and attaching a temporary replacement tooth on top of the implant. This means eligible patients are able to leave the clinic with a temporary tooth in place straight after their procedure.

Same-day dental implants may
be suitable for
patients who:

require a tooth extraction and replacement

want to reduce the time spent without a tooth during healing

have sufficient bone and oral health for immediate implants

are seeking a coordinated and efficient treatment process

Suitability depends on factors such as bone levels, gum health, bite force, and medical history. A comprehensive consultation is required to determine whether same-day dental implants are appropriate for you.

The 4-step
treatment process

Consultation and treatment planning

01

Your journey begins with a dental consultation. One of our experienced dentists will assess your situation and discuss whether you may be suitable for immediate implant surgery. A thorough examination is completed, and 3D imaging is required to support safe and accurate planning.

Preparation for
implant placement

02

Before treatment begins, your dentist will explain the procedure, discuss potential risks and alternatives, and ensure you feel informed and comfortable. Additional evaluations may be required, as not everyone is suited to same-day implant placement.

Tooth extraction and implant placement

03

On the day of treatment, the tooth is extracted and the dental implant is placed into the jawbone in the same appointment. Where clinically appropriate, you will receive an immediate temporary implant tooth (temporary crown) placed on top of the implant.

You will be given clear instructions on how to care for this temporary tooth over the following months while the healing process takes place.

Final crown placement and follow-up

04

Once healing is complete (usually around the 3-month mark) the final implant crown is fabricated and inserted. Follow-up care and reviews are arranged to monitor healing and support long-term implant function.
