All-on-4

A full arch of fixed teeth, completed in a single day for suitable patients

Who All-on-4®
May Be Suitable For

All-on-4® treatment is designed for people who have lost most or all of their teeth, or whose remaining teeth may no longer be maintainable long term due to extensive tooth loss, advanced gum disease, significant decay or other ongoing dental problems.

It is also commonly considered by patients seeking an alternative to removable dentures. Suitability depends on factors including oral health, bone volume, medical history and lifestyle, which are assessed during a comprehensive consultation.

How ALL-ON-4®
WORKS

All-on-4® replaces a full arch of missing or failing teeth using four or more strategically placed dental implants. Following a comprehensive consultation, 3D imaging and digital planning are used to assess suitability and create a personalised treatment plan.

The implants are then placed, and temporary teeth are often fitted during healing. As the implants integrate with the jawbone over several months, they create a stable foundation for the final custom-designed teeth, restoring function, appearance and confidence for suitable candidates.

The All-on-4®
treatment process

Complimentary
Consultation & Treatment Planning

01

Your journey begins with a complimentary consultation, including a 3D CBCT scan and comprehensive assessment of your oral health.

During this appointment, we’ll discuss your concerns, treatment goals and whether All-on-4® treatment may be suitable for your circumstances. We’ll explain the available treatment options, answer your questions and provide a personalised treatment plan outlining the recommended approach.

Our team can also discuss payment plan options and, where appropriate, guide you through the process of accessing superannuation under the relevant compassionate release provisions.

Pre-Surgical Planning
Appointment

02

Once you decide to proceed, you’ll attend a dedicated pre-surgical appointment. supported.

During this visit, we’ll review everything you need to know before treatment, including preparation instructions, medications and recovery expectations. Any required prescriptions, including antibiotics where clinically indicated, will be provided along with a comprehensive information booklet.

We’ll also take photographs, videos and digital records to assist with smile design and treatment planning. This allows us to carefully plan the appearance, function and position of your new teeth before surgery.

Implant Surgery &
Your New Smile

03

On the day of surgery, treatment is typically performed under local anaesthetic, with general anaesthetic or sedation options available for suitable patients.

The procedure generally takes between two and four hours, depending on the complexity of your case and whether treatment is being completed on one or both arches.

For suitable patients, a prototype set of fixed teeth can often be attached to the implants before you leave. This means you’ll never need to be without teeth during the treatment process.

Delivery of Your
Final Teeth

04

One to two days following surgery, you’ll return to Dental Implant Suite for the delivery of your final implant-supported teeth. Your final restoration has been carefully planned using your photographs, videos, digital records and smile design information collected throughout the treatment process. During this appointment, we’ll assess the fit, appearance, bite and overall function to ensure your new smile is designed around your individual needs.

For many patients, this is the moment their treatment journey truly comes together. The final teeth are secured to the implants, allowing you to leave with a fixed full-arch restoration designed to restore appearance and function.

Following treatment, we’ll provide detailed instructions on caring for your new teeth and arrange ongoing review appointments to monitor healing and support your long-term oral health.

FAQs

Common questions about All-On-4 Plus® treatment, suitability, and aftercare.

For suitable patients, yes. Where the implants are stable enough once placed, we can fit a fixed temporary bridge the same day, so you do not go without teeth. The decision is made on the day, because the implants need to hold firmly enough to support teeth straight away. If one site is not stable enough, the safer option can be to let it heal first, and we explain this possibility before treatment.

No. The bridge fitted on the day is a temporary one, designed for lighter use while the implants bond with the bone. Once healing is complete, usually after a few months, we make your final bridge from the settled implant positions. The final teeth are stronger and are made to suit your bite and appearance.

The implants are positioned to make the most of the bone you have, with the back two angled to support a longer span of teeth. This means four implants can support a full arch in many cases, and it can reduce the need for bone grafting. The right number for you is confirmed through your assessment and on the day of surgery.

We use Straumann implants for this treatment. Straumann is one of the longest-established implant systems and is backed by extensive clinical research. The implant surface is designed to encourage bonding with the bone during healing

The surgery is usually carried out under local anaesthetic, and sedation options are discussed with you beforehand. As with any surgical treatment, experiences differ, and some swelling, tenderness or discomfort is normal while you heal. We explain what to expect and give you guidance on recovery and aftercare.

Like any surgical or dental procedure, full-arch implant treatment carries possible risks and complications. These can include infection, slower healing, an implant failing to bond, gum or bone-related problems, and issues with the bite or the prosthesis over time. Factors such as smoking, diabetes and heavy grinding can raise these risks. Before you go ahead, we talk through the benefits, the risks and the alternatives that apply to you.

A fixed full-arch bridge needs ongoing care, much like natural teeth. Daily cleaning around and underneath the bridge matters, and we will show you how. Regular professional reviews and cleans are an important part of keeping the implants and gums healthy and catching any issues early.

The implants and same-day teeth are placed in a single surgical appointment for suitable patients. The final bridge follows once the implants have healed, usually after a few months. The exact timeframe depends on your healing and whether any additional procedures are needed.

Some private health policies with dental cover may pay towards part of the cost. Because benefits differ between insurers and levels of cover, we suggest contacting your health fund directly to confirm what your policy allows.
